NewYear-Still reading!

I'm still enjoying Troll's Eye View. I just finished "Troll" by Jane Yolen. The story of The Three Billy Goats Gruff has always fascinated me. When I was growing up, we had a drainage ditch next to our house. Basically, it was an old road bed that had grown up. My sisters and I believed the Troll lived there and we NEVER would go explore that area. It doesn't look as frightening today, but I still think there may be a troll down there!

What I'm Reading Now

Thanks to a suggestion from W. Hiott, I am reading The Road by Cormac McCarthy. It isn't a page turner, but the writing is amazing.

I am listening to Pirate Latitudes by Michael Crichton. It is totally unlike his other books, but I am enjoying it!

I am also reading Troll's Eye View: A Book of Villainous Tales edited by Ellen Datlow and Terri Windling. The story I just finished was based on Rapunzel. In this story Rapunzel has broken into the castle and the witch wants her out! The stories have been a nice change of pace from the usual teen angst!

Innocent Man, The

12-15-2006
The Innocent Man by John Grisham
Ron Williamson is a high school baseball player who "had" it all, until he starts to make a series of bad judgements. When his promising professional baseball career doesn't materialize like he had hoped, he feels he has let his community down. When a women is murdered in his town, the investigators believe he is the primary suspect. He cannot convince the authorities of his innocence, and the court system does not provide the justice it should.

This was a compelling story that really made me angry and frustrated with our judicial system. From the inept lawyers to the prosecuting teams to the abuse in the prison system, Ron Williamson suffers through it all. How many more cases are there in our system where the accused is not given the attention he needs because it is easier to assume he is quilty!
